How do you keep track of timelines when writing a series?

I know I need a timeline. There is no way my brain is going to remember what my main character did in book one when I’m writing book three or four. I’ll be lucky if I remember what she did in book one while writing book two.

I’ve never been a planner or very organized. I thrive in chaos and clutter. Maybe not the best way to be, but here we are.

Like Katie said, “You’ve got nine books' worth of information and dialogue stored in your head. How about putting the key plot points on a timeline?”

She’s right. I need this story organized, and that’s not happening in my head.

I’m hoping if I get everything down and out of my head, there will be room for, oh I dunno, schoolwork? That might be a good thing.
